Top 15 Favorite Statement Making Velvet, Boucle and Shearling Accents Chairs
In today’s roundup I am sharing some of my favorite velvet, boucle and shearling accent chairs. A good textural accent chair or one with a sumptuous rich velvet color can add a beautiful layer of interest to a living space. Many of the designs featured are inspired by the great designs of the early 20th century and like all good things do, they have made a comeback. A few of the shearling chairs reference early Danish designs from the 1940s, while many of the velvet pieces reference the post modern era that began in the 1970’s some even harkening back to the Art Deco and modernist movement of the 1920’s.
History aside, it’s not hard to notice that boucle, shearling, and velvet are all having another moment. But one of the perks of such trends is the ability to find pieces offered by many retailers at various accessible price points.
The best part to me about a good chair is it can be a chance to make a bold design move. Yeah maybe a shearling chair may not be the most practical but if you love it go for it! Chairs can be a great way to have some fun or add some excitement to your otherwise neutral or more reserved space. You can play it safe with your larger investments in your space and be adventurous with your chair choice. So here are some of my chair picks for that element of surprise or unexpected fun in no particular order.
So what do you think, are you into a bold or highly textured accent chair? The options are endless and regardless of your budget there is always a way to add a touch of aspirational design to your space. If you are afraid that such things are too “trendy” or will be out of fashion they are inspired by decades past. Design repeats itself and more importantly if you love it, go for it!
